Reading the bible is one of the greatest ways to learn about the character of God, and the purpose he has for your life.
RELY ON THE HOLY SPIRIT
Simply ask God to help you as you read the Bible. “But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative, that is the Holy Spirit, He will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.” John 14:26
ENGAGE IN THE PASSAGE
What do you see? Who is writing the book? What are some phrases that you understand? Not understand? Are there words or phrases that are repeated? Write down what you see, then pick a verse to memorize for the week.
ASK ONE QUESTION
Who is God? Read through the verses and look for any reference to God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit. Look for His name, personal pronouns or His activities. Then fill in this blank to discover who He is: “God is ____________.”
DIALOGUE
Take time to reflect on what you just read and ask questions: What do I need to remember about You? What truth needs to change my perspective, life, family, school, etc.? Do I believe this about you?
