We all need rhythms...

When we say "Create a Rhythm" we mean increase the quantity of quality time you spend together.

Ask yourself, “How has spiritual development been a part of our family rhythm this week?”

When it comes to having meaningful family times or spiritual conversations in your home, does it feel more like using the fine china or the paper plates?  What can you do this week to begin making quality family time and spiritual conversations regular parts of your family rhythm?

Our questions have the power to do two things.  First, they can communicate the value we place on the condition of our children's hearts.  Second, our questions can actually help our children know what they should be watching for.

As a way to create a rhythm, go into each of your kid's rooms at bedtime and sit on the edge of their beds and ask these questions:

- Is everything okay in your heart?
- Are you mad at anyone?
- Did anyone hurt your feelings today?
- Did anyone break a promise to you today?
- Is there anything you need to tell me?
- Are you worried about anything?

Create a safe environment for them to talk.  Be prepared, because you may be the cause of some their issues. Allow them the freedom to share without the fear of being silenced or punished.  The bottom line is that if something is weighing on their hearts, we want them to talk about it, not sleep on it.  We want our kids to learn how to clean out their hearts every day for the rest of their lives.
