What Jesus is Doing Now: Understanding His Current Role in Heaven

While many know the Easter story of Jesus' death and resurrection, fewer understand what Jesus is doing right now in heaven. After rising from the dead and spending time with his followers, Jesus ascended to sit at the right hand of God the Father. But He isn't just sitting idle-He remains actively engaged in the lives of believers.

What is Jesus' Primary Role in Heaven?

According to Romans 8:34 and Hebrews 7:25, Jesus' main role is interceding-or praying-for believers. He lives to advocate on behalf of those who have trusted in Him, bringing their needs before God the Father.

What Does Jesus Pray For?

Based on Jesus' prayer in John 17, here are five key things He prays for:

  1. Our eternal life - That we would truly know and experience God
  2. Our protection - Guarding us from the evil one
  3. Our unity - That believers would be unified as a testimony to the world
  4. Our joy - That we would experience His complete joy
  5. Our growth - That we would be sanctified and become more like Him

Why Does Jesus' Intercession Matter?

Jesus' role as intercessor means:

  • We have an advocate before God when Satan accuses us
  • We cannot sin our way out of His care and love
  • He understands us completely yet saves us completely
  • He prays for us even in our darkest moments

Life Application

Consider these questions:

  • Do you truly know Jesus personally, or just know about Him?
  • What "flag" is flying over your heart-His joy or something else?
  • Are you seeing growth and progress in becoming more like Jesus?

This week's challenge: Take time each day to reflect on the reality that Jesus is actively praying for you right now. Let this truth give you confidence to face whatever challenges come your way, knowing you have the risen King of Kings interceding on your behalf.

Remember-Jesus isn't just a historical figure who died and rose again. He is alive and actively involved in your life today, constantly praying for you before the Father. Let this transform how you view your relationship with Him.
