Experiencing Hope
We Are Hope Carriers: Bringing Hope from Our Backyard to the World
Welcome to our new series, "We Are Hope Carriers." Over the next few weeks, we will explore how we, as a church, can embody and spread hope in our communities and beyond. This series will highlight our Do Good ministry, which exemplifies our mission to carry hope locally and globally. Let's dive into what it means to be a hope carrier and how we can all get involved.
What is Hope?
Understanding Biblical Hope
Hope is often misunderstood in our society. It's not wishful thinking, superstition, or based on our circumstances or abilities. Biblical hope is a joyful and confident expectation of God's goodness and eternal salvation. This hope is found in Jesus Christ and is alive, serving as an anchor for our souls and never disappointing us.
Hope is Found in Jesus
1 Timothy 1:1 describes Jesus as our hope. Unlike worldly hopes that can let us down, hope in Jesus is reliable and dependable. Hebrews 10:23 reminds us to hold tightly to this hope because God can be trusted to keep His promises.
Hope is Alive
1 Peter 1:3 speaks of a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This hope should be evident in our lives, impacting how we treat others and live daily. It gives us confidence and security, freeing us from anxiety and allowing us to put others first.
Hope is an Anchor for Your Soul
Hebrews 6:19 describes hope as a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. In life's storms, this hope keeps us steady, preventing us from drifting away. Just as an anchor holds a boat in place, hope in Jesus holds us firm through life's challenges.
Hope Does Not Disappoint
Romans 5:5 assures us that hope in Jesus will not lead to disappointment. God's love, poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, fills us with hope that never fails. This hope is dependable because it is rooted in God's unchanging love and faithfulness.
Our Do Good Ministry: Carrying Hope Locally and Globally
Local Impact
Our Do Good ministry is dedicated to meeting physical and spiritual needs in our community. During Hurricane Beryl, we mobilized 147 volunteers who served over 500 hours, helping families rebuild and recover. One story that stands out is of an unchurched family who, through our help, began to open up to spiritual conversations about Jesus.
Global Impact
We also partner with organizations like Feed the Hunger, which provides meals to vulnerable children worldwide. Our goal is to pack 50,000 meals this Saturday, November 9th, with the help of 280 volunteers. These meals not only feed children but also open doors for sharing the gospel.
India Mission Trip
Recently, a team from our church traveled to India with our partner, Fam for All Mankind Movement. They shared the gospel with over 800 people, and 217 individuals committed to following Jesus. This trip highlighted the extreme poverty in India but also the incredible hope found in Jesus. One team member, Andrew, shared how the trip deepened his faith and conviction to live out hope at home.

Let's embrace this mission together, knowing that in Jesus, we have a hope that is alive, steadfast, and never disappoints. Join us in praying, giving, serving, and going to make a difference in the world.
